Scar Tissue Therapy

What can scar tissue therapy help with?

Osteopathy can help when scars from abdominal surgeries (such as caesarians (c-sections), hysterectomies, or other gynaecological procedures) lead to discomfort, numbness, tightness, or a sense of disconnection from your body.

Scar tissue may also affect posture, core function, and even breathing patterns.

Scar tissue therapy offers a gentle, effective way to support your healing and help you feel more at ease in your body.

This specialised treatment is designed to:

  • Release tight, restricted, or uncomfortable scar tissue
  • Reduce sensations of numbness or pulling
  • Improve mobility and posture
  • Help you reconnect with your abdominal area

During your session, I begin with a thorough assessment of your scar, abdominal wall, and breathing.

From there, I use a holistic, hands-on approach which may include:

  • Scar massage techniques
  • soft tissue release
  • Targeted breathing and core exercises to support integration and recovery

You’ll also receive guidance on self-massage so you can continue to support your healing journey beyond the clinic.

Please note: Scar therapy can only be carried out once the scar is fully healed—typically a minimum of 8 weeks after your surgery or incision. However treatment to help movement in the body overall can be useful, if it is safe to do so.

This work is always carried out with sensitivity, consent, and care.
