Nurturing Care Throughout & After Pregnancy

Pregnancy massage is a gentle, relaxing treatment designed specifically for expectant mothers. As your body changes throughout pregnancy, massage can provide a comfortable opportunity to unwind, ease muscular tension and take time to focus on your wellbeing.

Our treatments are tailored to each stage of pregnancy, using supportive positioning and techniques that prioritise both your comfort and safety.

Benefits of Pregnancy Massage

Every pregnancy is unique, but many women choose pregnancy massage to:

  • Reduce muscular tension and everyday aches.
  • Promote relaxation and reduce stress.
  • Encourage restful sleep.
  • Ease feelings of heaviness and fatigue.
  • Support overall wellbeing during pregnancy.
  • Take time for self-care before your baby’s arrival.

Pregnancy massage is intended to support relaxation and wellbeing and is not a substitute for medical or maternity care.

Personalised Treatment

Every appointment begins with a discussion about your pregnancy, general health and any areas of discomfort or tension. Your therapist will tailor your treatment to your individual needs, adapting pressure, positioning and techniques to ensure you remain comfortable throughout.

Extra cushions and supports are used so you can relax safely, without needing to lie on your stomach. Your comfort is checked regularly throughout the treatment, and the massage can be adjusted at any time.

What to Expect

Following your consultation, you’ll be made comfortable on the treatment couch using specialist side-lying positioning with supportive pillows.

Your therapist will focus on areas that commonly become tense during pregnancy, such as the back, shoulders, hips and legs, while adapting the treatment to your preferences and comfort levels.

The treatment is designed to be calm and relaxing, giving you dedicated time to switch off and enjoy a peaceful hour focused entirely on you.

After your appointment, many clients report feeling relaxed and refreshed. Your therapist will answer any questions you have before you leave.

FAQs

When can I have a pregnancy massage?

We offer pregnancy massage from the second trimester (after 12 weeks of pregnancy). If you have any concerns about your pregnancy, please speak to your midwife or obstetric team before booking.

Will I lie on my stomach?

No. You’ll be positioned comfortably on your side using supportive cushions and pillows throughout the treatment.

Is pregnancy massage safe?

Pregnancy massage is generally considered suitable for many women with uncomplicated pregnancies when carried out by a suitably trained therapist. Before treatment, we’ll discuss your pregnancy and any medical considerations to ensure it’s appropriate for you.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing. You’ll be given privacy while changing, and only the area being treated will be uncovered during your massage.

Can pregnancy massage help with back pain?

Many women choose pregnancy massage to help ease muscular tension and discomfort associated with the physical changes of pregnancy. However, results vary from person to person, and massage is not a treatment for pregnancy-related medical conditions.

How long is the appointment?

Your 50 minute appointment includes time for a consultation before your treatment, allowing your therapist to understand your needs and tailor the massage accordingly.

Can I have regular pregnancy massages?

Many women choose to have massage throughout their pregnancy as part of their wellbeing routine. Your therapist can advise on a treatment schedule based on your individual circumstances.

When should I avoid pregnancy massage?

Pregnancy massage may not be suitable in certain circumstances, such as if you have been advised by your maternity team to avoid massage or have certain pregnancy complications. If there is any doubt, we will recommend seeking advice from your midwife or doctor before treatment.
